Dr. Jim Wilson specializes in the diagnosis and treatment
of patients with chronic pain, occupational and sports related injuries,
including
back, neck, joint, and nerve disorders as well as musculoskeletal diseases.
His goals in treatment are pain reduction followed by a return to maximal
function and resumed activities of daily living. |

With board certification
in both Pain Management and Anesthesiology, Dr Wilson is highly skilled
in the administration of neurodiagnostic tests and the use of non-surgical
and minimally invasive treatment techniques. Dr. Wilson employs a wide-range
of these techniques, including fluoroscopically guided spinal injections,
radiofrequency neurotomy, intradiscal electro-thermal annuloplasty
(IDET), percutaneous disc decompression, and implantation of spinal
cord stimulators.
Dr Wilson grew up in Glen Ellyn, Illinois and
was the salutatorian of the Glenbard South High School class of 1978.
He graduated “Cum Laude” from the University of Illinois
at Champaign-Urbana in 1982. While at the University of Illinois, he
was a member and President of the Alpha Kappa Lambda fraternity. Jim
graduated from the University of Illinois - Abraham Lincoln College
of Medicine in Chicago in 1986. While attending medical school he was
named a member of the Alpha Omega medical honor society. In 1990, Dr.
Wilson completed his residency training at Michael Reese and the University
of Illinois hospitals. He spent his last year as a fellow in cardio-thoracic
anesthesia and critical care.
After finishing his training, Dr. Wilson became a
staff anesthesiologist at Edward Hospital in Naperville, Illinois. He
helped to develop the heart program at Edward Hospital and was the anesthesiologist
chosen to accompany the Edward Heart Team on their humanitarian mission
to Krasnojarsk, Siberia. Jim began to hone his skills in pain management
while at Edward Hospital, and during his appointment as Director of Anesthesia
at the Center for Surgery in Naperville from 1994-until 2002.
Dr. Wilson became board certified in Pain Management
in 1998. He has since received subspecialty training at pain management
centers as prestigious as Stanford University. Dr. Wilson was the first
Interventional Pain Management Physician in the state of Illinois to
perform the Nucleoplasty Percutaneous Disc Decompression in 2000.
He
opened his own private practice in 2003, and currently has offices
in Naperville, Joliet, and Warrenville. He is on staff at Adventist
Hinsdale Hospital, and performs procedures at numerous surgical centers
located in Naperville, Warrenville, Joliet, Westmont, Bolingbrook,
and Oswego.
Dr
Wilson
is an active lecturer on Interventional Pain Management Techniques,
and belongs to several professional organizations including the
American Society of Interventional Pain Physicians (ASIPP),Illinois
Society
of Interventional Pain Physicians (ISIPP), International Spinal
Injection Society (ISIS), and the Midwest Pain Society. He is well
recognized
